Costume Jewelry
Costume jewelry is said to appear at the beginning of the 20th century, approximately
in the 1930s. At those times costume jewelry was created to match a certain voguish
piece of clothes or costume. Also the peculiarity of costume jewelry of those times
was that it was rather cheap, and not particularly elegant, as it was intended
and created for wearing with the only outfit it had been created for. Costume jewelry
was made of low-cost artificial gemstones and inexpensive materials. The flowering
of costume jewelry occurred in the middle of the 20th century. From that tome and
on costume jewelry became popular among well-off people, and eventually it started
to be made of a broad variety of materials, gemstones and semi-precious stones:
CZ, synthetic diamonds, low-priced pearls and many more.
